This Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga Class Series introduces “tweens” (6-8th graders) to relaxation techniques and positive affirmations that allow them to be present, focused and reduce their anxiety as needed. Classes will include meditation, yoga movement, stories, music and laughter.

Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing one’s attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgment. It reduces stress, boosts the immune system, promotes better sleep, increases confidence, creativity and resiliency, and improves decision-making and self-compassion.

The practice of yoga develops body awareness, manages stress through breathing awareness, meditation and healthy movement. Yoga is a non-competitive, healthy activity that enhances flexibility, strength, coordination and a sense of calmness and relaxation.
